2020 iPad pro has been out for a little over a month and have been usingit as my main device when I'm not editing video every single day this ismy favorite device currently available from Apple and it feels most like Ithink what the original vision of Steve Jobs was is a personal computer that youcan bring with you everywhere that's simple and intuitive and for the mostpart I think that holds true but I've been using it every single day and Iwant to help you decide.
if you should pick one of these up or stick with maybea 2018 iPad pro or maybe wait for the next one or upgrade if you've never hadan iPad pro and so in using this every single day it's super fast and fluidit's got that promotion display like you'd expect so it's 120 Hertz superfast and smooth it handles multitasking no problem and it has the a 12 Zprocessor in it and that's something that was a little controversial at thebeginning but it's something that other CPU manufacturers do all of the time sobasically it's an a 12 CPU that also has an additional GPU core unlocked or anextra small CPU or processor on the graphics chip and then it has 6gigabytes of RAM in all models and so it's super fast all of the time there'sno slowdowns you wouldn't really expect any slowdowns you can edit 4k video withit no problem with things like luma touch or luma fusion.
so you'll seehere's a 4k video it works fine you can go out of it go back into it resumeswitch between maybe we want to switch between the app store everything's justsuper fluid and fast all of the time and so that a 12z processor I don't knowthat I notice a difference over the 2018 iPad pro but it's super nice to use no Ido use this all the time like I said for things like watching YouTube checkingemail following up on things I use it as my main computing device and the batterylife has actually been pretty good so we'll wait for it to load here and itgets the expected 10 hours of battery life so you'll see as I go back here Iuse it for an hour to 4 hours every single day depending on what today I'musing it and you'll see this day I used it for 42% of the battery using it forFaceTime and I don't charge it every day either I don't really have to thinkabout it because I'm using it for a couple hoursthen I don't have to charge it.
i plug it in when I do and it's good to go andthat's probably the best thing it's got great battery life no problems therewhatsoever and I find it to be very durable as well I know some people haveconcerns about it bending and flexing and while if I do push on it a littlebit you can flex it but for the most part it's very rigid especially if youuse a case with it and using it with the magic keyboarddoes use a little bit more battery but not so much that I have noticed anydifference at all and so of course you've got the functionality of theMagic Trackpad and I've talked about this in my my review of the magickeyboard and with that paired with this 2020 iPad pro it's something.
I canhighly recommend it's a fantastic experience now other than the batterylife you've got the cameras and the cameras are all new and are very nicebut it's not something that I personally would normally use in fact I would usemy iPhone camera if you have a newer iPhone and makes more sense to use thecamera on the iPhone and then it does the iPad but maybe you're planning avideo or you're planning something else or maybe you're just trying to see howsomething works in a room this camera is fantastic because it's a huge display sowith something behind it you can see it very clearly because you've got thisgiant display it's super nice to use that way and especially.
if you're usingthings like a are maybe an AR game or maybe you're using it to place furniturein a room it's perfect for that and Apple's new lidar sensor on the backhelps us sense depth even more so what lidar does is it sends out light orlaser and then measures the time that it returns from bouncing off that objectback to the iPad and you can see here what it looks like and by doing that itactually has more accurate depth sensing capability and so it will allow you tohave more accuracy with maybe measuring different furniture and rooms using itfor a measuring tape and things like that but it's not a reason I would runout and buy an iPad unless you're doing something specific that the iPad does soor you need it for maybe a business and to show customers things like that itmakes a lot of sense but with all of those new features and things this feelsmore like a twenty eighteen and a half or twenty nineteen iPad pro it's a veryminor upgrade and in using this with the magic keyboard since it came out in thesmart Keyboard it's a great experience but if youhave a 2018 iPad pro I wouldn't run out and get one because honestly I haven'tnoticed a single difference when using it.
I haven't noticed any differences inbattery life and it feels exactly the same the display feels the same thebattery life feels the same and in fact all of the accessories work as well sowhile you do have a larger opening on the back here so on the back of thismagic keyboard you can see through it it's a little bit larger opening you putthe older iPad on it it works just fine although you have a little bigger cameracut out so it's just a little bit odd looking but it works fine so if you wantto use it with the new magic keyboard it works instantly just like you wouldexpect no problems and if you have the 2018 iPad pro you're really not going tonotice a difference upgrading to the 2020 iPad pro now that said this is afantastic iPad and I would highly recommend it if you don't have an iPadpro so maybe you have a 2018 iPad and you're looking for something a littlebit bigger twelve point nine inches like this or maybe the 11 inch and you justwant a little bit bigger iPad then yes I would highly recommend you pick one upthe display is great everything is really great about it and the speakersare phenomenal.
so if you haven't used one of these I think you'd love theexperience now if you have the previous iPad pro I'm still not sure it's worthupgrading but this form factor the squared off form factor the way it feelsusability and everything else along with this Apple pencil just makes it afantastic experience in general so I highly recommend it to anyone lookingfor it as long as you have the budget for it so I definitely love it I'llcontinue to use it but I would love to hear from you in the comments belowusing it with this magic keyboard with an extra port is just what I've beenlooking for all along and I'd really just like Final Cut Pro for it and thenI'd be really happy with it other than that it's my favorite device Apple'sever made since maybe the iPhone 4 or 4s I just love this device and I'llcontinue to use it every single day but let me know what you think about it inthe comments below.
