What is Hardware?

 Is focused on computers. However, the exactly that indirectly, your contact will come with other types of computers. Hardware computers are electronic devices that can access input by following the inputs. 


Types of Computers 

There are four types of computers: Supercomputers, Mainframe Computers, Midrange Computers and Personal Computers, 

  • Supercomputers are the most powerful type of computers.  These machines are special, high-capacity machines used by very large organizations.  Supercomputers are mainly used to perform methods on giant data.  For example, they are used for global climate analysis and forecasting.  IBM's BlueGen supercomputers are one of the fastest computers in the world.

  • Mainframe computers are housed in specially wired and air-conditioned rooms.  Although they are not as powerful as supercomputers, their processing speed and data storage capacity are enormous.  For example, insurance companies use mainframe computers to process information on millions of their customers.

  • Midrange computers, also called servers.  Has less processing capacity than mainframe computers, but more than personal computers.  It was originally used by medium-sized companies or departments of large companies and today most of the midrange computers are being used by the end user to meet specific needs.  Such as data retrieval from a database or access to application software.

  • personal computers, also called PCs, are less powerful, but they are the most used and fastest growing computers.  Five types of personal computers


Personal computer hardware 

Personal computer system hardware consists of a variety of devices.  These physical devices can be divided into four basic categories: system unit, input / output, secondary storage, and communication.  We will discuss the hardware in detail later in the book.  Here is just a quick overview of the four basic categories.system unit, input / output, secondary storage, and communication.  We will discuss the hardware in detail later in the book.  Here is just a quick overview of the four basic categories.

  • System UnitThe system unit is like a box in which most of the electronic components of a computer system are kept.  The two most important components of a system unit are the microprocessor and the memory. The microprocessor controls and processes data to create information.  Memory is a type of data, information and information storage area, random - access memory (RAM), currently used program and data hold.  This type of memory is sometimes called temporary storage because it loses content when the computer's power supply is cut off. The second type, read-only memory (ROM) is the computer memory where data is pre-recorded.  This is because the content is lost when the computer's power supply is cut off.  The second type, read-only memory (ROM) is the computer memory where data is recorded.  Content is retained on ROM even when the computer is turned off .

  • Input / Output: Input devices translate data and programs from human language to computer compatible language.  The most common input devices are keyboard and mouse.  Information on output devices methods Translate from computer language to human language.  The most common output device is a display, also called a monitor

  • Secondary storage: Unlike memory, data and programs are stored in secondary storage even when the computer's power supply is turned off.  Hard disks, solid state storage, and optical disks are the most important secondary media types.

  • Hard disks are commonly used to store programs and extremely large data files.  Data and information are stored on the surface of the disk with the help of magnetic charges using hard metal platters and reed / write heads that can rotate on the platters.  In contrast, solid state storage has no moving parts, is more reliable and requires less power.  It saves data and information in electronic form like RAM, only it does not lose. Optical disk stores data and programs by laser technology.  There are three common types of optical discscompact discs (CDs).  Digital Versatile (or Video) Disc (DVD) and Blu-ray Disc (BD).

Communication: Once upon a time, it was not at all common for a personal computer to communicate with another computer system.  Now one with the help of internet using communication devices A personal computer can easily communicate with another computer system, be it in the nearest room or on the other end of the world. A modem is the most widely used communication device that converts audio, video, and other types of data to the Internet.
